Recipes   :   Desserts   :   Puttu ala greengram


Ingredients
      
Green gram - 1 cup.
Sugar - 1 cup.
Grated coconuts - 1/2 cup.
Cashew nuts - 2 tbs.
Raisin - 2 tbs.
Cardomom - 6 Nos.
Ghee - 2 tbs.
                
Method
          
1. Soak green gram in water for 2 hours and grind to a course paste.
2. Steam in pressure cooker (like idlies).
3. Break the steamed green gram paste in to small pieces. (Can put in mixie and run for a minute - It will become like puttu).
4. Grind cardomon to fine powder.
5. Heat the pan and fry the grated coconuts till they turn brown in colour.
6. Fry cashew nuts and raisin seperately in ghee and keep aside.
7. Add the green gram pieces and fry for 10 minutes in low fire, till the raw smell vanishes.
8. Then add sugar and fry for 5 minutes, till the sugar dissoves and then add coconuts, cashews, raisins and cardamom powder and serve.
