Recipes   :   Rice Dishes   :   Onion Rice


Ingredients
      
Long grain rice or basmati rice- 1 cup
One big size onion finely chopped
Green chillies - 3 nos.
Turmeric powder - 3 pinches
Urid dal- 1 teaspoon
Mustard seeds for seasoning
Salt to tase
Oil for frying
                
Method
          
Boil the rice in cooker with 2 cups of water and keep it aside. Now season mustard and urid dal with little oil and then add few curry leaves, green chillies and onion and saute well for few minutes. Than add the turmeric powder and saute for few more minutes. Now add the cooked rice and saute again. Add salt according to the taste.

The cooking time is only 3 minutes if the rice is ready.
